How is my daily goal worked out?

If you entered your weight: 30 ml per kilogram, capped at 3.5 L, adjustable in the settings ("My daily goal"). On top of that come the water the alcohol calls for (10 ml of water per gram of alcohol: volume × ABV ÷ 100 × 0.8) and, on iPhone with Apple Health, your workouts. Each calculation is explained with its sources in the app: Settings, then "Calculations and sources". These are estimates for guidance, not medical advice.

Why don't coffee or soda make up for alcohol?

They count toward your baseline, as they hydrate almost like water. But to make up for alcohol, AquaShot only counts water: a soda would mostly add sugar.

How does the link with Apple Health work?

On iPhone only, and only if you allow it: AquaShot writes the water you drink to Health (never the alcohol) and reads your workouts to raise your daily goal. After a workout, a notification tells you what the goal gained, if reminders are on. Everything stays on your phone. The link can be turned off in AquaShot's settings, and access removed in the Health app. On Android, AquaShot does not access any health data.

How do I add the widget (iPhone)?

• Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
• Tap "Edit", then "Add Widget" (or the "+" at the top).
• Search for "AquaShot", pick a size and tap "Add Widget".

A glass of water added from the widget is saved in the app the next time you open it.

I don't get reminders

Check that they are on in AquaShot's settings and that notifications are allowed for AquaShot in the phone's Settings. A reminder is only sent if your gauge stays in the red for more than 45 minutes.

My data

Everything stays on your phone: no account, and only technical error reports, without your drinks or your weight, may be sent. "Reset the gauge" clears the current day; deleting the app deletes all your data. On iPhone, water already written to Health stays there: you can delete it from the Health app. See the privacy policy.

Does AquaShot measure my blood alcohol?

No, never. AquaShot only tracks your hydration and never tells you whether you can drive. When in doubt, don't drive.
